Music has been described as a universal language. In the performance sense, this can be very true. Performers around the world are judged by roughly the same criteria. Even Louis Armstrong has been famously quoted to have said "There's only two types of music in this world: Good and Bad. If you can pat your foot to it, it's good."
It goes without saying that students need to be provided with great instruction in order to produce the best work that they can. While the situation where a student requires instruction in a language other than English has not come up in my class, I am equipped with the skills and/or resources to provide, at the very least, instructions for assignments in spanish, portuguese, and mandarin.
