Coaching Vision Statement

When I think back to my own childhood, growing up and moving through grades, I have memories of my teachers. I recall their personalities and how their (sometimes less than) subtle differences helped me latch on to the materials they taught. A teacher's personality will help them develop a style of instruction that is their own. To interfere with personal style is something that could be described as "micromanagment".
As a music teacher/coach, my primary goals are to see strong, respectful classroom management, rigor driven results, engagement, and retention. There is not one specific way to achieve these goals and I certainly advocate for a teacher to find their way through. My personal coaching style would lean more in the direction of "Facilitative Catalystic". I want to ask questions so that I understand the thought process. I also want to ask questions so that I can steer a conversation with a client in a certain direction if need be. In short, I believe that using questions about a teacher's procedures as a means to steer the client towards a self realization can lead to long lasting effective instruction.
